Technology gives us the ability to bring together learners from around the world. Discover the resources available to you and your students to collaborate with those from afar. We will explore two tools (ePals and iEARN.org) for your use and discuss successful past projects initiated here at the Academy. Make your classroom a “Window to the World.”

Interactive Excel

Excel is not only for creating spreadsheets – it can be used as an interactive tool! Learn how easy it is to have students create unique presentations to demonstrate what they have learned. Add pop-ups and hyperlinks that share important bits of information. This is a great approach for including all kinds of digital references in a project.

Creating Audible Stories

Learn how to record and edit audio with software already on our computers.  Add music, fade sounds and create other special effects.  These recordings can be shared online or burnt onto CDs.  Consider students creating oral history projects, poetry readings, or  interviews that could be play backed during class.

Creative Presentations w/ PowerPoint

PowerPoint presentations don't always need to be a sequential series of slides.  Projects like "virtual museums" let students create nonlinear presentations which allow viewers to jump around in the presentation.  Other presentation formats, such as "Jeopardy", let students review material for a test using a similar method.    Discover the secrets of nonlinear PowerPoint in this session.
